The Centre for Foreign Policy Analysis was established in the United Kingdom in 2004 as an independent and nonpartisan focus for rigorous research and analysis, and where necessary to initiate debate, on issues of foreign policy and international and national security. The Centre brings together both academics and those who have had hands-on experience in these fields.
The Centre’s areas of research include studies of foreign and security policy within a time of unprecedented geopolitical and economic change, analysing British foreign policy post-Brexit; American policy in the age of Trump; the recalibration of western policy within the Asian century; Africa in the 21st Century; environmental and energy issues; the architecture of international justice; the impact of media in conflict; political Islamism; asymmetrical warfare; counter-terrorism, especially chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. A major focus of CFPA’s work has also included peace, reconciliation and conflict resolution, undertaking research in countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Sudan, the Maldives and Zimbabwe. The Centre’s work has included publications, reports, conferences and seminars and the production of television documentaries.
